Why do I need to attend a small group when I already go to church?
Venture is a large church, which makes it easy to feel like another face in the crowd. How do you begin to make friends and grow spiritually? How can you get answers to questions and study biblical truths more deeply and personally? Small groups are the place where all that happens.
Are all small groups the same?
Absolutely not! Venture Small Groups come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Groups are typically divided up by age and gender, but there are also general groups available for everyone. Also, groups are free to study the curriculum that best meets their needs. Some groups delve more deeply into weekend messages, some study a book of the Bible, and others study a specific topic such as marriage, dating, parenting, faith, etc. The basic components you should find in all Venture small groups are: studying biblical principles, sharing each other's lives, supporting one another, and serving the needs of those outside the group.
Do you have to be a Christian to attend a small group?
No, you do not need to be a Christian to attend a small group. Small groups are a place where Christians and non-Christians alike can explore Jesus and His teachings together. In fact, one of the best places to understand Jesus and Christianity is in small groups.
What if I have never been to church before? Can I still go to a small group?
No problem at all. Your church history has nothing to do with your attending a small group. We won't check your church I.D. at the door. Small groups are open to everyone.
Do I need to bring anything to small group?
We recommend you bring a Bible, a pen or pencil, and something to write on, but these are not requirements to attend.
Do I have to pray out loud at small group?
Absolutely not. The choice is yours. We understand this can be intimidating and we encourage the freedom to decline to pray out loud until you feel comfortable. We know that God hears us when we pray out loud and when we simply pray along "in our hearts" with others, so take as much time as you need.
